So Wall Street Walks into a Bar…

Filed under: Politics — Kelly @ 10:45 pm

Did you hear the one about how Wall Street walked into a bar and got drunk? Yeah, the punch line is that about a million people lost their house! Isn’t that funny? Sounds like Bush has been taking lessons from John McCain about inappropriate jokes. Roughly two weeks ago, in case you’ve forgotten, John McCain shared with us the good humor of how it would be good for us to export cigarettes to Iran and kill them with cancer.

This of course brought to mind his wonderful rendition of the Beach Boys song.

Yeah, wasn’t that a hoot and a holler? Nuke ’em till they glow. You just know  any joke that hasthe punch line of nuclear war, and all those hilarious images that go with it–people melting, shadows getting burned into walls, and millions of people dying–are just going to work. With comedy like that who needs tragedy? Of course he was repentant though. Yeah, right!

Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, ‘Where is that marvelous ape?’

Of course nothing beats the good old fashioned rape joke. I mean, we all know that women really like to be raped, beaten and left for dead. Who can’t get a good a good knee slap going with the image of a half dead bleeding woman with a torn skirt hiked up around her waist? Of course the McCain camp’s response is that he made "mistakes in the past."  Of course this is nothing to do with making a mistake, this is just being a jerk. Imagine some guy standing around the water cooler yucking it up with the fellas with a good old ape rape and beating and left for dead joke. He’d be fired before lunch. He’d make a good President though considering the way the media glossed over this.

All of this might sound like pettiness unless you take the time to give it an ounce of thought. Do we really need to even consider for a breath the value of a president that thinks things like war, rape, murder and homelessness are funny? I mean after all look how well the last guy who had a sick sense of humor did?

  1. I wonder if anyone has a video of him singing “Help me Rwanda” or “Be Cruel to Kabul.” Given the Karaoke CD of the Beach Boys 30 greatest hits and today’s headlines, McCain could have fun fun fun ’til his handlers took the microphone away.
